How to use the Library Webpage Accessit

We have a wonderful Library at Sydenham, which sits at the heart of the school and is where we nurture our pupils to embrace a love of reading. It’s packed full of books for all abilities and interests and is relevant and representative for all our students and staff.  We cover all genres of fiction as well as self-help, dyslexia friendly, revision, manga, non-fiction books.

Year 7 and Year 8 students benefit from weekly Library lesson where they read and discuss books to embed their reading for pleasure. All students are encouraged to have a book with them every day at school and to read at home at least 20 minutes a day.

We celebrate books with events, trips, competitions, author visits and collaborate with the other Lewisham Schools to hold the Lewisham Book Quiz and Book Award. We will be exploring ways to continue to offer these exciting actives to promote the love of reading.

Reserve & Deliver’ service

Our ‘Reserve & Deliver’ service is going from strength to strength with loans doubling over the past fortnight to nearly 1100 books!

Here is a reminder on how we are achieving this: Students log into Accessit automatically when at school and from home by following the SSO option. From their account, they can browse and reserve from over 10,000 books, these are then delivered by us to their tutor rooms. This link will take you to a PowerPoint for full instructions.

Accessit: Log onto Accessit from home to search our library catalogue, reserve a book,  write a review or check when your books are due back.
