Sydenham School GCSE Results 2018
Sydenham School students once again, have achieved strong results in a range of GCSE subjects and the school community is rightly celebrating these well-deserved outcomes.
In the first year in which almost all subjects were graded on the new 9-1 scale, and students faced more challenging syllabuses and exams, the proportion of students achieving a strong pass in English and Mathematics combined increased to 56%. This is an increase of 7% from 49% in 2017.
Impressively, 13 students achieved grades 9-7 in all of their GCSEs. Notable performances included:
- Hayley Merchan Orduz who was awarded an exceptional sweep of straight grade 9s in English Language, English Literature, Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, History and Latin.
- Seven students who achieved three of the top grade 9s each, including Daniela Robson (3 grade 9s, 3 grade 8s and and 3 grade 7s); Zainab Sheikh (3 grade 9s and 5 grade 8s).
- Davina Dinguana who achieved 100% percent grades 8 and 9.
Headteacher Gloria Lowe stated, “Today’s results represent the culmination of the hard work of students and staff together, and the school community is very proud of all of our students who have done so very well. We are a fully comprehensive school and offer a broad and balanced curriculum that meets the needs of our students.
We have recently been accredited as a ‘High Performance Learning World Class School’. We are delighted with this award which we will use to support us in continuing to build on the excellent work of the school”.
