Flu Vaccinations for Year 7-11: Tuesday 23 November

Sydenham School will be hosting flu vaccinations for students in Years 7-11 on Tuesday, 23 November. This is a really important opportunity for our students to protect themselves for flu and to stop it from spreading to more vulnerable family members and friends. As we head into another winter of Covid-19, it is more important than ever to take steps to stay healthy and protect each other.

If you would like your child to have their vaccine, you must give your consent on the eConsent portal.

Please click on this link to give consent:

Black History is important as it raises awareness about black lives present and past and provides us with the opportunity to celebrate our differences in today’s society. It also serves to provide an education beyond the school curriculum.

We acknowledge that Black history should be celebrated all year round, however black history month allows us to take the time to think about the impact of the black changemakers, forward thinkers, politicians, scientists and creatives.  It is a powerful history of challenge and adversity faced with dignity respect and creativity and black history around the world has shaped all our lives and we should be proud to come together to celebrate it this month.

This booklet is a compilation of activities that we will be showcasing this month in school and was created in collaboration with students.

I hope you enjoy it.

Secondary Urban Debate League 2020 – Round 1 Results! What fantastic results from the Sydenham School teams.…

The school has been given the opportunity to take part in a project that will run jointly between schools and the Metropolitan Police.

Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has been exposed to, or involved in, any domestic incident.  We know that children can be significantly physically or emotionally harmed when this is the case and the information received will be used to make sure the right support is available for children and their families.

Operation Encompass will ensure that two members of the school staff, known as the Designated Safeguarding Lead and the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, are trained to allow them to liaise with the police. The Safeguarding Leads will use the information confidentially, while ensuring that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children or their families who have been involved in, or exposed to, a domestic abuse incident. We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our students and we believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved. If you have any concerns or questions then please contact one of our school’s Safeguarding Leads (Ms Quartey or Ms Robinson) and we will be happy to discuss this further.
