BRITISH COUNCIL INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL AWARD - FOUNDATION CERTIFICATE

Congratulations to you and your pupils on gaining the International School Award Foundation Certificate: Introducing Internationalism. You have demonstrated an excellent start in promoting the international dimension across your school and highlighting the benefits of learning in a global context.

Please send our special congratulations to the international co-ordinator at the school who has worked so hard to co-ordinate the school’s international activities.

Your commitment to extending and embedding internationalism in your curriculum is a valuable aspect of your school ethos; the British Council will be pleased to provide you with advice, help and information at each stage of your international activity. In addition to a partner-finding facility, British Council Schools Online has many other resources to support international learning including: classroom resources and professional development opportunities.
We hope you will continue to develop your work in this enriching area and that you will consider aiming for the Intermediate level and eventually to International School Award Accreditation.

The International School Award team is your first point of contact for any queries regarding your involvement in the International School Award scheme. You can contact the team for advice or assistance by email: isa@britishcouncil.org

We wish you all the best with the further development of the international work of your school.
Yours sincerely
The ISA Team

London Borough of Culture 2022 - Lewisham

London Borough of Culture 2022 - Lewisham

Lewisham’s London Borough of Culture programme has been announced, celebrating change and proudly proclaiming We Are Lewisham.

From venues to parks and street corners, Lewisham will tell the story of its trailblazers past and present via music, dance, debate, public art and more.

With a call to action on the climate emergency and a celebration of Lewisham’s diverse communities, the year-long programme is inspired by the borough’s rich history of activism and standing up for equality.

Jointly led by Lewisham Council and the Albany, We Are Lewisham will bring together all of the borough’s neighbourhoods, communities and stories.

Secondary Urban Debate League 2020 – Round 1 Results! What fantastic results from the Sydenham School teams.

https://debatemate.org/secondary-urban-debate-league-2020-round-1-results/…

The school has been given the opportunity to take part in a project that will run jointly between schools and the Metropolitan Police.

Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has been exposed to, or involved in, any domestic incident.  We know that children can be significantly physically or emotionally harmed when this is the case and the information received will be used to make sure the right support is available for children and their families.

Operation Encompass will ensure that two members of the school staff, known as the Designated Safeguarding Lead and the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, are trained to allow them to liaise with the police. The Safeguarding Leads will use the information confidentially, while ensuring that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children or their families who have been involved in, or exposed to, a domestic abuse incident. We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our students and we believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved. If you have any concerns or questions then please contact one of our school’s Safeguarding Leads (Ms Quartey or Ms Robinson) and we will be happy to discuss this further.
